My Minimalist Baby Registry of 30 Items

If you’re a minimalist mom-to-be, you may be wondering–what kind of baby registry essentials do you need?

10 more weeks left in my pregnancy and 1 week until my baby shower… the countdown begins!–

Lately, we have been working extremely hard–painting the walls, putting together pieces of furniture, and trying to get everything ready for baby Chloe.

Deciding what is truly needed took time. When practicing minimalism with kids, it’s important to avoid things you don’t need and reduce owning duplicates.

Having a baby registry is a MUST If you don’t want to clutter up your home with unwanted baby gifts.

Curious about what items made the cut on our baby registry? If so, keep reading!

Where We Registered

We chose to use Amazon for our baby registry.

We looked at all the different baby registry sites, but for the design styles that we were looking for, Amazon was our best-suited choice.

Although we used Amazon for the baby registry, we’re also supplementing and buying things ourselves from different stores.

We bought some things from Target, and we’re going back to Buy, Buy Baby this weekend to look at strollers and car seats. I’ve also purchased some wall decor from Etsy, and we have a bassinet that’s arriving from Design DUA (thanks, Matt’s parents!).

I want to share with you all of the different things we are going to be incorporating into the nursery. However, they’re not all in the room yet because I haven’t had my baby shower!

Let’s start with some of the big core pieces, like the crib!

Crib And Mattress

We went with the Babyletto Lolly 3-in-1 Crib. And I am IN LOVE with it.

Initially, it caught my eye on Pinterest when I was looking into “boho nursery”  which is the theme that we’re going for here

The reason for needing to emphasize that the nursery is boho is because it’s what I truly envisioned for this space and therefore, a lot of my baby registry is based on that theme.

We’re trying to avoid baby registry gifts that we don’t have space for or that don’t match our desired “vibe” for the nursery.

The crib has curved corners, so it looks very boho (the overall goal).

Then of course, with any crib, you have to have a mattress.

We went with the Graco Premium Foam Crib & Toddler Mattress which was very inexpensive – around $89

Some people mentioned when they bought the universal-size mattress, it didn’t fit properly and left gaps between the sides.

However, the Graco premium foam mattress we purchased did not do that at all! So if you’re thinking about going this route, just know that we haven’t had any issues whatsoever.

Another thing that my in-laws bought us was a Bassinet by Design Dua I found on Pinterest. They have Moses-basket-style bassinets, and rocker wooden frames to hold them. It’s the most gorgeous thing and I’m so excited about it!

Something that was going to easily fit next to my side of the bed without taking up all of the space was a priority.

Being able to grab this basket by the handles and carry it around the house with me, instead of needing something in every room was a plus for ease and convenience

Sheets

We put 2 sets of sheets into our baby registry– one of them is by Sweet JoJo Designs, and it’s a cute pumpkin boho color.

The other one we put on the baby registry is a pretty rainbow-designed muslin sheet set by Marlowe & Co. It’s an organic cotton muslin sheet set, which I’m generally a really big fan of.

I really wanted to get at least one set of muslin cloth sheets and a backup for baby spit-up or accidents.

Blankets

For the main blanket, we got the Simka Rose in the Sienna color.

It’s a waffle blanket that doubles as a swaddle!

Some blankets are super thick and can’t be used with newborns- not a practical choice–so it’s nice to have something with purpose, rather than something to simply drape over the side.

The nice boho-brown color in the blanket matches the darker tone of the rainbow picture on the nursery wall and if you haven’t figured it out by now,

I’m all about the baby blankets

If you have enough baby blankets, they work for everything. Spit up? Wiping a mess? You name it.

I put two different sets of muslin baby swaddles/blankets in my baby registry. One of them is a 4-pack by MomCozy in, of course, the desert colors

The other one is by LifeTree – a 3-pack of muslin swaddle blankets made of soft bamboo cotton.

We threw in some muslin burp cloths on the baby registry for good measure :). The reason being that they’ll also be used for washcloths– babies are messy, right

Aside from that, I registered for 2 adorable swaddle blankets that come with matching hoodies. It’s the ONLY thing on the registry that was in the clothing department –aside from mittens.

For clothes, it was mentioned that we prefer no snaps or buttons–I’d rather have zippers or nothing at all 🤪. Otherwise, we gave them the warm-toned, boho theme and let them run with it!

Bottles

A lot of time went into looking at a couple of different bottles and honestly,

It’s hard to swear by any of them.

Each baby is different as far as what types of nipples they’re willing to take. Plus, I plan on doing a lot of breastfeeding–therefore only felt the need to put 3 bottles on the baby registry.

We went with the Boon Reusable Silicone Pouch Baby Bottles, and they are really cute. The silicone pouch can collapse–so you don’t have to worry about bubbles getting in, causing colic

Boon has great reviews, looks nice, and goes along with the overall theme.

Nursing Pillow

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of baby registry must-haves (especially for newborns) was a Boppy nursing pillow

This was a must-have for me since I used it religiously with both of my older daughters. I’m sure you’ve seen or heard of them by now–especially if you’re expecting a baby of your own.

It makes the breastfeeding process so.much.easier

When my daughter started sitting up and during playtime on the floor she used the boppy all the time! I ordered 2 covers that will hopefully match the vibe/theme of the room.

Not to mention, the accordion-style wooden wall rack for shelving, which has been popping up in a lot of boho-theme nurseries on Pinterest

The price came to $12.99. It’s convenient – because there’s no need to worry about folding all of the blankets. It also adds a pop of color and accents the wall that won’t have any art.

Toys

There’s only one “play-thing” for the baby registry, which is a Little Dove Wooden Baby Play Gym

In those first months, that’s all we’ll do in terms of play, and it had a lot of great reviews. It’ll give the baby something to look at and something to play with.

I also got a Snuggle-me Organic Lounger with a burnt orange colored cover. Despite having no experience with this one, I’ve fallen in love with it.

It’ll be nice to be able to lay the Snuggle-me in bed between Matt & me or to lay it on the floor so that she can have something to lounge in while looking around the room.

So simple. So versatile.

The last thing in this whole “play” category is a Baby Delight Alpine Deluxe Portable Bouncer. It’s lightweight, minimalistic, and easily moved from one spot to another.

As far as actual toys go, we avoided the typical stuffed animals/toys but did end up registering for a Silicone Stacking Rainbow on the baby registry.

It’ll work as excellent functional decor for the room, and it’ll be safe for her to teeth on. As she gets older, she’ll be able to play with the pieces and stack them.

I really do love simple toys–such as wooden and stackable toys. You don’t need things that make noise and move around on their own, especially for newborns.

Diaper Bag

Hours went into looking at diaper bags. It really did –there are so many options.

Today you can find diaper bags that expand into a mini changing station/portable bassinet. I thought that that was really cool, but didn’t see us using it.

Instead, I opted for the best-seller diaper bag on Amazon – BabbleRoo Diaper Bag Backpack. The Khaki will go perfectly with her boho theme.

It has thermal storage for 3 different bottles, and plenty of space for diapers and clothes– it even has a pacifier carrier

Speaking of pacifiers, I registered for an Itzy Ritzy Sweetie Soother Pacifier 2 Set in desert colors.

Baby Carrier

For my older daughters, I used an Ergo baby carrier.

It was used all the time because I hated messing with a stroller. I could have them facing in or out which was a nice touch.

I was researching what’s available nowadays and finally settled to put the Baby Bjorn Mini 3D Jersey Carrier on my baby registry.

It’s made out of Jersey material and still has the ability to face in or out (a requirement for me after having experienced that). This was a winner because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and because I like the way that it supports a newborn’s head.

Whenever they’re tiny and facing in, I’ve noticed other brands just don’t have a flap to support their head.

I’m super excited because I know that I’m gonna use this thing ALL the time!

Hygiene

The Honest Company is the brand we went with for a lot of things because I’ve had such good luck with their belly butter. Plus, they make a lot of organic items.

After registering for The Honest Company diaper rash cream, I moved on to the Shampoo wash/lotion duo set in the almond scent.

One box of Pampers and wipes also made it on the list–I know that they’ll work even if they end up not being my favorite. (Honestly, I couldn’t remember my preferences from before but I was pretty sure it wasn’t Huggies).

The last thing we have to get for baby Chloe is a car seat.

Matt really wanted us to be able to go in person and test these out–which I think is a great idea. (Look out for a future post on this!)

All Things Mama

The baby’s not the only new thing that’s gonna be happening, right?

My body’s going to be going through a lot and I’ll need some different things that’ll help me out.

Nursing breast pads are a must

This time, I’m using something that can be washed and reused–AKA, Eco-friendly. Recently, I replaced my face cotton rounds with bamboo, and I’ve been loving it.

These nursing pads come in a pack of 14 and we’ll see how they work.

I’ve obviously heard of a breast pump before, but I’ve never heard of this brand or model before, and apparently, it’s really popular. It’s called a Haaka

It’s a simple, small silicone piece of equipment. Because I’m going to be breastfeeding, there won’t be a huge need for pumping–The Haaka will be perfect for preventing me from losing milk during a nursing session.

Next are hot and cold pads for postpartum. They’re great for heating up and sitting on my lower stomach whenever I start getting postpartum cramps. They’ll definitely do the trick!

Having had an episiotomy in the past and it caused a lot of discomfort, I want to make sure this time around that there is something to keep me comfortable as soon as I deliver.

FridaBaby Perennial Witch Hazel foam, to help relieve swelling, burning, and any kind of uncomfortable sensations.

Another Honest Company item I went with is their Calm Your Nip balm for some of the discomforts that come when you first start breastfeeding.

It helps by numbing the area and moisturizing it to keep that area safe for the baby–also to make it more pleasant and comfortable for me.

Welcome
