Day 1: Boundaries

Liquid error: Nil location provided. Can't build URI.

Boundaries create space, not the other way around.

It sounds simple, and it IS, but this is the most challenging step for many people.

Without boundaries, our space is absorbed by the unimportant.

  • things without a home
  • unwanted hand-me-downs
  • binge shopping, and
  • the inability to find anything, ever.

The list of struggles from boundaries is exhaustive, but you get the picture.

Setting boundaries is the first step in designing a home environment that soothes, inspires, and supports you (as your haven should).

So let's talk specifics!

✌️ 1. First things first, create boundaries for people (including yourself).

Implementing boundaries could be as simple as limiting your Amazon purchases to once a week or conversing with a family member about over-giving.

🏠 2. Then, create boundaries for your space.

I talk a lot about " spatial constraints " - having dedicated spaces with firm boundaries for categories of things.

"Firm" is the critical word here. Open spaces on the floor or corner of a desk don't count.

Think cubbies, shelves, bins, dividers, etc.

🤩 Your turn! It'll take you less than 10 minutes to complete and will help you to implement what we talked about today :)

You got this! Tomorrow, we will remove the most critical factor when feeling stuck in your space.

All my best,

Mia
